Geologic Materials Center - Regulation Changes

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) is proposing to institute a fee schedule for services and data provided at the Alaska Geologic Materials Center (GMC) in Anchorage. Revenue collected from the fees would support operational costs at the facility and benefit the public by maintaining and improving sample accessibility.

The SB 170 bill, signed by Governor Bill Walker on June 22, 2016, provided DGGS with the authority to charge fees for facilities, equipment, products, and services.

DGGS is seeking input from industry, academia, and the public to establish a fee schedule that is reasonable, efficient, and cost-effective for both the State and users of the facility. Public input will be considered and potentially affect any new fee structure and/or individual services provided by the GMC.

Feel free to download and view the proposed GMC fees (Pages 14-20).
