Steve provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure DGGS meets the needs of the public as defined by Alaska statute. He manages the Division's fiscal affairs, acting as a liaison between the division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeking out and encouraging cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advising the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.

Ken manages daily operations for a diverse team of 50 geoscientists with an annual budget of $10M. He earned his B.S. in Geology from the University of Cincinnati, and his M.S. in Volcanology and Remote Sensing from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Ken has worked for the State for over 10 years as a geologist with DGGS in Fairbanks, a project manager at the Alaska Energy Authority, and the Curator of the Geologic Materials Center (2009-2015).

Responsible for budget development, accounting, and financial management for the division. Coordinates, performs, and supervises all aspects of the administrative functions for the division, including personnel, procurement, travel, inventory, policy and procedure development.
