Unconsolidated deposits include glacial, glaciofluvial, alluvial, and eluvial sediments. Igneous rocks consist of granitic, mafic, and pegmatitic dikes and sills. Metaigneous units include metagranitic and metagranodioritic sills and greenstone sills. Metasedimentary rocks comprise interbedded marble and schist, calcareous schist, quartzite-schist assemblages, marble units, graphitic and calcareous schist, biotite-schist and quartzite assemblages, and dolomitic and calcitic marble. These units display gradational contacts and represent lithologies previously assigned to the Nome Group. The map provides detailed lithologic and structural information to support geologic interpretation and mineral investigations within the quadrangle. The dataset provides geologic, structural, stratigraphic, and geochronologic information organized according to the GeMS and AK GeMS mapping schemas. Fieldwork included observation and description of lithologies, stratigraphic contacts, structural features, and geomorphic relationships. Rock units were examined and classified based on mineralogy, texture, and weathering characteristics, and gradational contacts were traced and recorded where present. Unconsolidated deposits were mapped using surface morphology and sediment characteristics. Igneous and metaigneous dikes and sills were identified and differentiated by composition. Metasedimentary units were mapped by tracing changes in schist, quartzite, marble, and mixed lithologies. Field data were compiled with existing geologic information to delineate unit boundaries and prepare a preliminary geologic map at 1:63,360 scale.
