Fieldwork conducted between 1985 and 1988 included 1:63,360-scale mapping and mineral-resource investigations. The area features a mix of rounded ridges and sediment-filled lowlands, with the Russian Mountains massif rising to 1,057 m and hosting alpine glaciation during the Quaternary. Fifteen bedrock units, from Pennsylvanian to late Tertiary, were analyzed using petrography, geochemistry, and radiometric methods. Fourteen Quaternary-age surficial units were identified through field and photogeologic techniques. The study aimed to assess the geologic context, resource potential, and development history of these deposits, including previously explored sites and identified heavy-mineral placers in glacial outwash.
