Employment

DGGS employees are an integral part of a large and diverse family of professionals, and are known around the world for collecting and distributing reputable information about the state's geologic resources and hazards. Our geologists and support staff are leaders in researching Alaska's geology and implementing technological tools to efficiently collect, interpret, publish, archive, and disseminate that information to the public.

In addition to our State Geologist/Director and Division Operations Manager, the current DGGS staff roster consists of the following positions: Geologist, Analyst/Programmer, Administrative Assistant, Natural Resource Technician, Administrative Officer, GIS Analyst, Geophysicist, Systems Programmer, Micro/Network Technician, Publications Specialist, and student interns.

Job Types

Permanent
A position in the classified service that is not time-limited.
Non permanent
An employee in a temporary work assignment of fewer than 120 days or a work assignment established for a specific program, project or assignment.
Internship
A student training program that enables the student to learn from DGGS professionals while performing tasks that are valuable and necessary to our mission. Interested students are encouraged to review the DNR Student Intern Program requirements and submit an application be considered for future openings.
