Abstract

In the summer of 1982 an exploratory drilling and testing program was under taken at Pilgrim Springs (40 miles north of Nome), Alaska to develop the geothermal resource for possible application for binary cycle electricity generation and for space heating. Four additional wells were drilled, the deepest 1000 ft., and all six wells were tested. Despite probing to the 1000 ft. depth, the resource in the drilled area is only a perched hot water reservoir, from the 50 ft depth to about the 120 ft. depth, overlaying a cold water reservoir.
