North Slope shrubs expansion
Project Details
Project ID:
1567
Nickname/Abbreviation:
North Slope Shrubs
Parent Project:
Alaska Hydrology Program
Status:
Active
Description:
An NSF funded project studying prolific shrub growth in small drainages on the North Slope. We found that these shrubs grow in areas where streams use groundwater conduits that remain open year-round. This has major consequences for winter discharge into bigger rivers and could be part of the increased aufeis in lower Sagavanirktok River
