Western Tanacross (Mosquito)
Project Details
Project ID:
1610
Nickname/Abbreviation:
W Tanacross (Mosquito)
Parent Project:
Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI)
Status:
Active
Description:
The Western Tanacross project will complete a 1:100,000 scale bedrock geologic map focusing on the western part of the Tanacross Quadrangle. The field areas for the project are approximately 20 miles north and southwest of Tok. The project area is of current and historic interest for potential mineral resource development, including quartz vein Au mineralization, placer Au deposits, granite-hosted tin mineralization, and intrusion related Cu-Au deposits. Prospects in the area include Triton, Tushtena, Taurus, and others. This project is also known as the Mosquito project. USGS grant no. number: G20AC00156 for Earth MRI GM (FFY2020), rescheduled to FFY2021 due to COVID-19. Related project photos can be found in the DGGS Photo Database.
